2012 The Year of Transformation!
Have you heard about the Mayan Prophecy? The one where the world is going to end in December 2012?
What if I told you that the true prophecy is that we are all entering a year of transformation?
The truth of the Mayan Prophecy is that we are being called to integrate our masculine (business and doing) with our feminine (meditative and creative) to create our next level of success and happiness.
As a speaker to promote and market what you do, it is crucial that you have a balance of business and creativity to ensure your success.
Do this quick self test to see where your dominant energy sits:
1. I would rather create and daydream than make sales calls ___yes ___no
2. I would rather talk on the phone then use social media ___yes ___no
3. I would rather talk about personal stuff than business targets __yes __no
4.I am more comfortable when taking control __yes ___no
5. I prefer to let others take charge __yes __no
Typically if you are more creative and less business focused you have an abundance of feminine energy and if you are more about the business than you have a dominance of masculine energy. Of course it is never that cut and dried – the goal is to balance and integrate the masculine and feminine activities to lead a more integrated life.
For years I was dominant in my masculine energy- it has been in the past decade that I have brought my feminine into balance with my masculine. I was pretty unhappy when in my dominant male energy- I felt put upon, misunderstood and under valued. Today I am centered, more self loving and much more content with my life and work.
I am excited about 2012 for myself but also for you! Now more than ever we have the power and the ability to integrate and create our next big leap forward.
My next event is the Business Breakthrough Weekend in Edmonton AB March 2/3 2012- to find out more go to:

2011 A Year of “Aha’s”
As we come to the holiday season and the end of 2011 most of us spend a little time thinking about what happened in the year and what we would like to see happen for the coming year.
Personally, I am grateful for the ‘aha’s’ of 2011 which will help me to be laser focused for 2012.
Some great questions to reflect on for 2011 are:
1. What stands out as the most significant thing I learned this year?
For me I deepened my learning about what I choose to do with my time. So much of my focus for the past twenty years has been about work and in the past few years I have had the opportunity to slow it down just a bit and integrate play and personal time into my life.
2. What are you most grateful for in 2011?
I am most grateful for health- to me our health is our wealth- but I didn’t always have this realization. I have always been hearty and vital but watching my in-laws health deteriorate over the past few years really caused me to appreciate well-being and to take even better care of myself than ever before.
3. What can I do to deepen my contribution to the planet through my work?
My concept of work has shifted drastically- I feel blessed that I have been able to do work aligned with my purpose but in the past year I have found a deep longing to extend my sense of contribution. I am looking at how my work makes a difference for others and the greater good- I am looking at aligning with causes that heighten my sense of meaning- I am wanting to expand my outreach to others so that we can all work towards a vision of making a difference.
Asking these questions allows us to have some time to reflect on the ‘behind the busyness’ of our lives and to really ensure we stay centered and on path.
In my newsletter I share some exciting news about our business and how we are expanding it is part of the bigger vision!

When Women Have Clarity and Focus…Look Out!
I just got back last weekend from my 7th Keynote Coach Retreat in Calgary and what a powerful group of women.
It was an intimate group and every woman was able to get clear on their business offerings, what they wanted to speak about and they left with their very own keynote blueprint that they can use to create as many speeches they want to promote their businesses.
A Realtor found her unique niche and left with amazing ideas to leverage her brand and her business. A corporate leader found an exciting website idea and keynote ideas to market to her corporate contacts. An owner of an advanced education company found new markets to attract parents and students. A wellness and life coach found her unique keynote that can promote her three offerings to her audiences.
When women find their clarity and focus there are not limits to what they can create.
I am honored to have spent 2 days with these women and happy that they are on the journey to greater wealth and contribution through their businesses.
We are launching a new program in February 2012 and will be sharing more in future blog and newsletter posts. Until then here’s a question:
What could you do if you had greater clarity?
What could you create if you had greater focus?
All the best,
Cheryl

What’s In a Story? 3 Ways to Bring Your Story to Your Speaking
I am preparing for my next Keynote Coach Retreat in Calgary on August 19 and 20 and I have been speaking with my attendees by phone for their preparation call prior to the retreat.
I am always impressed by the caliber of women that are attracted to the 2 day Keynote Coach retreat and this time I have to say that the women attending are soulful, successful and serious about growth.
One of my conversations involved the use of stories, I ask participants to prepare a 10 minute presentation for the retreat that they will be presenting to the group. I have found that every one of us has a story or stories that must be told and it is with our stories that our audiences connect and relate.
There are a few ways to successfully bring stories to your speaking and some questions to ask yourself when choosing to share specific stories. Here they are:
1. Relevance- a colleague of mine had a disagreement about this one- she thinks telling a touching story without having a teaching point or reference is acceptable when speaking. My viewpoint is that without context an emotional story can be viewed and felt as manipulative by the audience and we have to ensure there is a relevant point along with the story. It’s okay to tell a story of hardship growing up but how does it relate to your overall message? How can you bridge your story of hardship with what people in your audience may have experienced or are experiencing? The purpose of story is to connect and share and enlighten- check to see if your story does this and then feel free to share it.
2. Repeatability- people will forget your name and your face but they will rarely forget a story you told. Check your stories to see if they are easily repeatable- can someone else tell your story to others in an easy way? Years ago when I started speaking full time I used to tell my story of having to fish for my dinner in Alaska, use a ‘honey pot’ and teach a seminar in a bingo hall with angry participants. To this day I have people who saw me present that story tell me that they have never forgotten the story. The story made it into Richard D. Carlson’s “Don’t Sweat Stories” because it was so funny- the series of events couldn’t have possibly happened- but they did. The relevance of telling the story was about staying present and using untapped coping skills when in high stress situations. Everyone can relate to that!
3. Right story, right time- just because we have stories that work with certain audiences it does not mean they will work with every audience. For my corporate audiences I often share my story of being in several bank robberies in my early banking career. The story often resonates because I relate it back to working under pressure, doing what we are told as Baby Boomers and afraid of being fired. When I am presenting to women entrepreneurs I tell my story of the obstacles growing up and how those helped me to be a successful entrepreneur. I have dozens of stories available and I always choose the right ones for each audience. It’s important to continue to create new and current stories especially if an audience may have seen or heard you before.
Now more than ever we need to be sharing our stories and I am thrilled that I can be of service to women who want to speak to grow their businesses. When we women can bring stories to our business savvy and communicate those stories with connection, passion and energy we can indeed leave a positive footprint on the audiences we speak to.

It’s Time to Step it Up and Lead as Women
We all have our excuses- too tired, too busy, too much going on and our excuses are valid BUT are they stopping
you from leading as a woman?
More and more women are being called to lead and they are ignoring the call or they are postponing the call.
Why? I think its because we are so used to doing things for everyone else that we feel selfish or we put others
needs before our own.
Here’s the deal though, the world needs us now!
The Dalai Lama himself says that the world will be saved by women from the Western World.
You know that you have wanted to step forward even more than you already have and you know
that you can no longer ignore the inner voice that is urging you to action.
There are two reasons we are stressed, typically.
#1- we are trying to change things that are never going to change
#2- we are not taking the action needed to make the change
We women have gifts and contributions to make to help move the planet forward.
Of course we have families and a life and our well being takes priority but if all is well
and you are hearing the call then the time is now.
How can you lead or how are you already leading?
- Get out there and speak about your business and how you can help
- Join your community leadership as a leader
- Be involved in your children’s activities and take a lead role
- Answer the call to serve in politics
- Lead your associations or membership clubs
It is through leadership that we learn and grow but also how we can make an impact on others.
I urge you that you are being called to action right now! Just step it up a notch and continue to
help move the globe forward- we are answering the Dalai Lama’s call.

3 Reasons Why Women Need to Speak- Whether That’s Seminars, Workshops or Keynotes
When I spoke for the WOW- Women of Worth conference in May the room was packed
with 300+ women, the energy was electric and the collective power of women highly
dynamic. When women come together with a common purpose we can create almost
anything!
I personally believe that it is time for more women to step up, share their expertise and
really expand our skills so that we are hired for the value we bring not our gender.
Here are 3 reasons why more women need to speak right now:
1. The market is shifting, more women are in leadership positions, more women than ever
before are starting their own businesses. In short the audiences are becoming filled with
more women and women want to hear from other successful women. Let’s face it gender
doesn’t matter when it comes to content and value BUT women do appreciate when a
successful woman shares her strategies because women do have to juggle many things in
addition to their businesses. We want to hear from women who are managing their whole
lives not just their business life.
2. Men appreciate a woman’s perspective too. Recently I spoke for a predominantly male
audience in Niagara Falls, my presentation was on leadership, company culture and the
generational impact on business. When I was finished the male VP who had hired me
thanked me but it was when I got home about a week later that I received a thank you
note with a Tiffany pen set that I knew I had made an impact with him. When women
tell me that audiences don’t want to hear from women I say, BS!
If you can deliver compelling content, high value ideas and relevant usable strategies then
audiences whether male or female want to hear from you.
3. If you don’t speak up you have no one to blame but yourself. Don’t let fear or lack
of worthiness prevent you from stepping forward right now to claim your place in
the collective energy that is propelling the globe forward. We need women who have
done the work, who have cleared their issues and who are willing to authentically share
what they have learned in order to help others grow and learn. In my experience the more
I put myself out there, take the risks and show up the more I am rewarded with growth,
success and most importantly a high sense of contribution to the well being of the planet.
If you are ready to have your voice heard, if you are ready to speak and grow your business
and if you know that the time is right for you- then the time for action is now.
If you need help and direction you can sign up for my Keynote Coach Retreats or you can
work with me in a one on one strategy day. Your intuition knows when its time.

What Could You Create With The Right Powerful Support?
You have a dream, you a sense of what you can create, you have already created many successes. You are able to manifest what you want. AND right now you can feel the energy to step forward and to really create big results.
You don’t want to postpone, delay or put off your big goals any longer. You want to move ahead as quickly as you can and you know you can’t do it alone.
So what could you create with the right support?
Imagine having an hour with Tina Fey what could she tell you that would help you move forward quickly. What if you had half a day with Oprah?
Or what could you create with half a day with not one but two highly successful entrepreneurs with connections to PR, Speakers Bureaus, Coach Universities, and Book publishers?
My friend and colleague Teresia LaRocque Master Certified Coach, faculty of Erickson College for Coaches, former Tony Robbins coach and coach to major executives in Vancouver and I have created a joint project the Triple M Mastermind. We have had the program for a few years but we formally launched it at the WOW Conference in Vancouver on May 7th.
I did a keynote on Women Leaders with 2020 Vision and Teresia facilitated a closing session on WOW moments and getting the right support to reach your goals.
We have 10 women signed up for consultations to see if they are a fit for the Triple M Mastermind which is starting in June 2011. This unprecedented program includes meeting with Teresia and I for half a day a month where we focus on 2 women, their goals, their business stretches and the group masterminds in an online forum for a month until the next half day session. The program is a 6 month commitment and promises to leverage each participants success.
We also offer one day strategy programs for those women who want to get a full day focused on them, their business, their life and their big goals. This can include building a coaching practice, building the speaking business, marketing the business, PR strategies, social media strategies, website strategies and more.
We have worked with a number of women who have gone on to create incredible results and we have amazing testimonials from over the moon clients.
We have 2 spots open for the Triple M Mastermind consults- if you are already successful, if you are ready to break through to a new level, if you know you can’t do this next step alone- then sign up now for a consultation to see if this program is for you.

5 Ways Women Can Create More Success
Yesterday I spoke at the Women of Worth Conference at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver http://www.thewowevent.com an annual conference for women. The founder Christine Awram has produced this event for 7 years and each year the event attracts more women who want to celebrate all that is ‘woman’.
I was the keynote speaker after lunch and my topic was “Women Lead With 2020 Vision” in the presentation I provided the 5 ways in which we women sabotage our power and also what we need to focus on as we move forward towards the year 2020.
There has been an energetic shift in the past decade towards feminine energy and we are all being called to integrate the structure and rigor of the masculine energy with the fluid and gentle of the feminine energy. As feminine energy infiltrates the way we lead and do business we are all being called upon to focus less on ego and more on collaboration and inclusion.
The 5 ways we sabotage ourselves are:
1. We get in our own way
2. We doubt our abilities
3. We give power away
4. We don’t set up the support
5. We have silly rules
These are pretty self explanatory but let’s focus on the last one ‘we have silly rules’. Think of rules as judgments or limitations that we have in our thinking and behavior that then causes us to stay small or not create what we want. For example if you have a rule that the dishes have to be put in the dishwasher a certain way then that rule likely causes you to be the one who always loads the dishwasher or when you go behind others and straighten up you are causing others to not be willing to do things for you.
Rules are rigid viewpoints that we have that create either our happiness or our unhappiness. I have rules about how people should store their overhead luggage. Seriously, I travel a lot for work and for pleasure and I find myself watching people and seeing if they follow my ‘rules’ for storing their carry-ons. Because I have the awareness of this rule I can laugh at myself while I have the thoughts like, “she shouldn’t be trying to put that in there- she should put that under her seat” instead of feeling stressed or feeling the need to say something to the person. But before I had the awareness I would create a lot of stress for myself as people consistently broke my ‘rules’ on how to store their carry-ons.
The 5 ways we women can create more success are:
1. Stop getting in your own way- become aware of your powerless thoughts and focus on your strengths
2. Start appreciating your abilities and trusting yourself- get the support you need to tackle something that you lack confidence in- pay for it- get people who can help you leverage your abilities on your team
3. Start owning your power more and more each day- this means acknowledging what you bring to this world, stop doing things for others that make you feel bad or that you do out of obligation, look for solutions that do not include you having to be a martyr
4. Start asking for support in every area of your life. Ask you partner to support your need for alone time or spa time or a trip with a friend. Ask your kids for their help to make the household run more smoothly. Ask yourself who can support you in your business goals and be willing to invest in yourself to get the support such as housekeeper, assistant or coach.
5. Become aware of your rules- notice the rules that cause you pain and the people you love pain. Start to be willing to let go of most of your rules, to just enjoy people for being people, to enjoy challenges as opportunities to find small glimmers of joy.
I am so excited for women at this time- more women are becoming leaders, more women are becoming entrepreneurs, more women are balancing their personal needs with their business needs.
I encourage you to attend next years WOW event and I also encourage you to check out the special program that I am putting on with Master Certified Coach Teresia LaRocque that is a mastermind for women http://www.triplemmastermind.com

Put Me In Coach- I Am Ready to Play
I am so thrilled that I have been getting calls and emails about ladies who are ready to step up their presence and want to create more abundance for themselves.
What these ladies are saying are, “Put me in coach, I am ready to play” and they are no longer hiding behind excuses or fears. They sense and they know that the time is NOW to find someone who can fast track them with their speaking goals.
I am getting asked when I am coming back to Calgary to do a Keynote Coach Retreat and we will be providing details soon!
We have Vancouver’s Keynote Coach Retreat coming in November and soon to be announced events in Chicago and LA.
So are you ready to play?
Here are 3 signs that the time is right for you right now to focus on your speaking to grow your business:
1. You feel ‘itchy’ or ready for the next big thing but you haven’t found the right signs yet to let you know who or what direction you should go.
2. You are ready to invest time and money with someone who has ‘been there and done that’ and can help you get to where you want to go quickly.
3. You are done with the excuses and the fears and really ready to take action to move forward.
If these three signs are there for you right now then now is the time to make the changes and to be held accountable to your greatness. You know you are destined for bigger things, you know that you are being called to show the world all of your gifts and to share your gifts with others and you know that time is getting faster and there is no longer the luxury of putting your goals on pause. The time is right now for you to do something that will catapult you forward.
